KYC / Verification Specialist

Role summary

The KYC / Verification Specialist supports the control layer behind TeamZoro's onboarding and compliance-sensitive workflows in Sri Lanka. This role reviews identity and supporting documents, validates completeness against requirements, and routes higher-risk or unclear cases through the correct review channels.

This role suits someone who is careful, methodical, and comfortable working with documentation standards that require both speed and judgment. The role requires strong record-keeping, attention to detail, and the ability to apply verification requirements consistently without losing operational discipline.

Responsibilities

• Review KYC and verification submissions for completeness, consistency, and adherence to internal requirements.
• Validate identity-related records, supporting documents, and required onboarding information using approved procedures.
• Escalate incomplete, suspicious, or higher-risk cases through the correct internal workflow for further review.
• Maintain clear logs, verification notes, and decision records suitable for operational review and auditability.
• Work closely with onboarding and trust-related teams to keep verification-dependent cases moving efficiently.
• Support the refinement of verification checklists, documentation standards, and process guidance.
• Identify recurring verification issues and flag patterns that affect quality, fraud prevention, or activation speed.
• Protect sensitive information by handling records with care and following internal privacy and control practices.

Required qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in business, law, compliance, administration, or a related discipline.
• 1+ year of experience in KYC, document verification, onboarding controls, compliance operations, or related administrative review work.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort handling sensitive records with care.
• Ability to follow structured standards and make consistent, well-documented decisions within defined rules.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Basic proficiency with spreadsheets, case systems, or document management tools.

Preferred experience

• Experience in platform operations, fintech, or compliance-aware onboarding environments.
• Exposure to fraud signals, document validation routines, or operational controls.
• Experience working with case logs, verification queues, or audit-sensitive workflows.
• Working knowledge of Sinhala or Tamil in addition to English.
